The project for the Flixeder Landtechnik GmbH involved a collaboration between nine students from FH Oberösterreich and a family-owned agricultural machinery service company in Pattigham, Austria. Our objective was to create a modern, fully functional website using WordPress to enhance the company's online presence. Key features included an integrated shop via iframe and SEO-optimized content, all presented in a responsive design that aligned with the client's branding. The project concluded successfully, providing valuable insights into project management and teamwork while delivering a significant positive impact for the client.
In my bachelors degree my 8 colleagues and me collaborated on this studyproject with Flixeder Landtechnik GmbH. The project involved project planning, wireframing the user flows and pages needed as well as implementing the website with wordpress to meet the client’s needs effectively. We organized our efforts into specialized groups focusing on development, design, and content creation, ensuring a seamless workflow throughout the project. By prioritizing performance and SEO optimization, we delivered a responsive site that enhanced the company's online presence.
Flixeder Landtechnik GmbH is a company specializing in agricultural technology, dedicated to providing innovative solutions for farmers and landowners.
The client, Flixeder Landtechnik GmbH, faced several challenges with their existing website, which was outdated and lacked essential features. The website provided minimal content, making it difficult for potential customers to understand the services offered and limiting the company’s online visibility. Additionally, the design was not responsive, resulting in a poor user experience on mobile devices. The existing site also failed to optimize for search engines, hindering its discoverability. As a family-owned business with over 60 years of experience, the client needed a modern, functional website that effectively showcased their expertise, attracted new customers, and allowed for easy content management.
The goal is to improve the usability of the website and optimize it to gain a better online presence.
In the design phase, wireframing played a key role in laying the foundation for the project's later development stages. Wireframes were created using Balsamiq, providing a clear blueprint for the site’s layout, navigation structure, and overall flow. This preliminary design served as a valuable communication tool with the client, offering a visual representation of the proposed website. It allowed us to gather feedback early in the process and ensure alignment with the client’s expectations before proceeding with the more detailed design work. Once the wireframe was approved, it guided us through the subsequent stages of design and development, helping to ensure consistency and clarity in the user interface.
In the development phase, the project transitioned from design to implementation, where the wireframes and visual designs were transformed into a fully functional website. We utilized a Wordpress template and with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript we built the front-end, ensuring responsiveness and compatibility across different devices and browsers. The content was inserted through the Wordpress CMS, allowing for easy updates and management by the client. Version control was managed through Git, facilitating collaboration among developers and allowing for smooth tracking of code changes. Regular testing was carried out to ensure the website’s performance, security, and user experience met the project’s requirements. By the end of this phase, we had a fully operational website, ready for deployment.
The project resulted in the successful creation of a fully functional WordPress website. The sprint-based work processes throughout smaller groups improved efficiency and collaboration. The website met the client’s technical, design, and content requirements, featuring SEO-optimized content and a shop integration via iFrame, and was optimized for both desktop and mobile devices. This project provided valuable lessons in web development, teamwork, and project management, emphasizing the importance of clear communication, organization, and adaptability in delivering a successful outcome.
